Key Issues Facing Norman, OK: Why Change is Needed

Misuse of Funds and Lack of Transparency:

  • Persistent attempts to use Tax Increment Financing (TIFs) instead of other financing options to fund unwanted projects and force financial burdens on residents without their consent.

  • Concerns about the management of funds leaves residents questioning the priorities of city leaders and how taxpayer dollars are being spent.

Homelessness Crisis and Mismanagement:

  • Norman’s homelessness issues have escalated under the current city leadership, who have implemented ineffective strategies.

  • Despite community concerns, city leaders continue to negotiate permanent homeless shelter placements and funding behind closed doors, excluding public input.

Water Quality and Public Health:

  • Norman’s water has elevated levels of Chromium-6, a toxic chemical linked to severe health risks, including cancer. Norman's water contains levels of Chromium6 that surpass even those exposed in Hinkley, California, as dramatized in the film Erin Brockovich.

  • These unsafe water conditions pose significant health risks to residents and demand immediate attention and resolution.
